Happy Tails 😻

Finley came to us originally as a young kitten, and spent time in foster care with one of our staff members. He was adopted to his new family in August of 2019 and we recently received an update from them. Finley has turned out to be a super sweet & snuggly boy who provides them with much needed companionship, especially during this time. He has just celebrated his first birthday and has grown up to be such a handsome guy.

April 2020 Stats

In April we had 53 animals come into our care, 35 of those were cats and 18 were dogs. We adopted out 3 cats through foster homes by doing contactless adoptions. We returned 3 cat and 11 dogs to their owners. We also transferred out 60 animals to other like minded shelters and rescue organizations. The rest of the animals will stay with us until they find their furever home.

QHS Update

QHS closed its doors to the public on March 13th, 2020. Since then, staff has continued working hard and taking care of the animals. We have continued to accept animals from our animal control officers, as we hold the pound contracts for Belleville, Quinte West and Tweed.

We have continued to reunite pets with their owners while still maintaining social distance and protecting the staff as well as the public. QHS has been working closely with a number of other shelters and rescue organizations as well.

We want to take the time to thank all of our staff, volunteers and supporters for their patience and support during this time. We have been so lucky to continue receiving donations for the animals as well as the staff.

Despite having to cancel all of our fundraisers, we have had so many supporters step up with third party fundraisers to benefit QHS.

We cannot thank everyone enough for stepping up during this trying time. The staff and animals are so grateful.
