Quinte Humane Society Appoints New Executive Director

The Board of Directors of the Quinte Humane Society (QHS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marilyn Lawrie as Executive Director, effective November 2, 2020.

Marilyns track record as a dynamic executive director, her leadership experience in the not-for-profit sector and her deep roots in the community set her apart from more than 50 other applicants as the best fit for QHS.

From 2012 to 2016, Marilyn served as the Executive Director of the Quinte Ballet School of Canada, working with the Board of Directors and Artistic Director Catherine Taylor to enhance the schools contribution, both locally and nationally, as a center of excellence in dance and dance education.

Most recently, Marilyn has been General Manager for the Stirling Festival Theatre, responsible for the oversight of financial and administrative operations. She has also held senior executive positions with the Quinte Arts Council, Quinte Symphony and Belleville’s Business Improvement Area (BIA).

“As a life-long supporter of animals in need, I am energized to join the formidable team of QHS staff, volunteers and Board of Directors as we move forward with plans to build our new home, the Regional Community and Animal Care Centre,” says Marilyn. “Completion of this multi-purpose facility on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road will represent an important milestone in the evolution of animal care services and programs in the Hastings and Prince Edward counties and serve as a vital community resource of which we can all be proud.”

Please join us in welcoming Marilyn as we transition to ever more relevant community-based program and services that benefit "both ends of the leash."
