The Pat Culhane Legacy Circle
In recognition of her longstanding and extraordinary devoted passion for the people and animals in need, the Quinte Humane Society (QHS) is honoured to dedicate and name its new legacy program, The Pat Culhane Legacy Circle.
“Pat was truly exceptional, like so many others who have left a legacy gift to QHS. Pat, however, was one of a kind” declared Donna Endicott, Chair of QHS Board of Directors. “She had such a deep and genuine devotion for the underprivileged, marginalized and vulnerable and of course for abused, neglected and abandoned companion animals. Her enormous contribution to the Quinte Humane Society will forever be treasured and her wisdom will continue to guide us towards a better future for the animals and a new home for QHS.”
It is only fitting and appropriate that QHS recognizes her contribution to the organization, the community as well as her leadership on City Council with the launch of The Pat Culhane Legacy Circle.
“When we were young, we were a family of 12 and animals were not allowed in the house until someone sneaked in a little rabbit we named Peetail. How we loved that rabbit. Once, he escaped and a frantic search was launched. He was found huddling on the steps of our family's church. From that rabbit our love for animals grew. How proud we were of our sister, Pat, when she joined the board of the Quinte Humane Society and, with her colleagues there, worked so hard to improve the lives of the dear animals in their care. From that time on, at every party or celebration in our lives, a glass bottle appeared for donations to the society.
Our Pat was a strong advocate for people and animals in our community. Accolades and tributes continue to pour in since her death, but we are most touched and pleased that her name, and her work, will continue to be remembered through the Pat Culhane Legacy Circle. Thank you very much.” The Culhane Family.
The Pat Culhane Legacy Circle is being inaugurated to immortalize her enormous contribution as well as to encourage others to include the Quinte Humane Society as part of their legacy. We also wish to extend deep appreciation and recognition to those who have left a special gift to the QHS in their will.
Since 2015, the Quinte Humane Society has received twenty-four bequest gifts. These gifts range from $50 to over $1 million. Most of these legacy gifts have been undesignated and therefore directed to the most urgent and pressing needs. Most recently, some gifts have been directed to pursue the realization of a new shelter. The Pat Culhane Legacy Circle will welcome and gratefully accept cash, traded securities, life insurance policies, RRSP, RRIF and personal property.
The Quinte Humane Society extends its deepest sympathy to Pat’s family, friends, and colleagues.
Pat will also be missed by everyone and every animal that she has reached-out to and changed their lives forever.
Her legacy will always live on at the Quinte Humane Society.
