UPDATE: QUINTE HUMANE SOCIETY BATTLING PARVOVIRUS, URGES COMMUNITY TO VACCINATE DOGS

The need to vaccinate your pets has never been more evident as the Quinte Humane Society takes on yet another case of Parvovirus from the community. A local puppy has be diagnosed with Parvovirus and is now under round the clock veterinary care after it was surrendered to the Society. Puppies are very vulnerable to the virus when they are too young to be vaccinated but if everyone vaccinated their adult dogs we could curb this virus in our community.

As the Society works diligently to combat the virus in the shelter by limiting contact with the dogs to staff, increasing the frequency of disinfection and other protocols, it is asking those whom are seeking ways to help to visit their online donation page at quintehumanesociety.com and consider making a contribution. With mounting vet bills and increased costs of care the Society is struggling to meet the demands.

The Quinte Humane Society is a non-profit charitable organization serving Hastings and Prince Edward Counties with a mission to promote the prevention of cruelty to animals that are neglected, abused, exploited, stray or homeless while working within the law and in cooperation with the government, OSPCA and the public, in order to improve conditions for animals, while maintaining a balanced sensitivity toward both animal and human needs.
