We have been so privileged to share our homes with companion animals. They’ve assumed the role of our most trusted confidants, and they’re the best snuggle partners on a cold winter day. Companion animals act as comfort when we hear a bump in the night, and lend an ear when no one else seems to listen. Animals play a very important part in our everyday lives, and it is of the utmost importance, that we foster a love and respect of all living things.

We must model compassion as we raise our children, and future generations, allowing them to experience the joy companion animals bring to our lives. This will help guide them to develop a natural love and respect for all living things!

Animals are front and center in our advertising- Royale “The Kitten Brand”, the Taco Bell Chihuahua, or the Energizer Bunny. We have animals in our homes, on our clothing, and consumer packaging. They’re everywhere in our world and it is imperative our children learn compassion for all species that share planet Earth. Humane Education has been around since the early 1900’s and it has come a long way since then! Before Covid-19 changed much of the programming at the QHS, I had the pleasure of visiting local schools and engaging our youth in Humane Education topics. I urge parents to start early, it has been proven that Empathy is an important emotional resource linked to many positive psychological traits. Empathetic children tend to be more resilient; they are better able to handle stress and challenges. Parents and educators can access many Humane Education resources online, for free! Start early, fill your child’s heart with compassion and respect for all living things! Our youth will grow into Future Leaders, Educators, and be the change the world has been waiting for! We are all connected by compassion!
