Meet Alan & Bat!

Today we have a sweet, bonded pair, ready and waiting to meet their new furever family!

When Alan arrived here at HSHPE, he shut down. He had lived in a home, and this new environment was very stressful for him. He was placed into a foster home to learn his true personality. It took some time, but after nearly 8 weeks he had come out of his shell.

Bat arrived in our care through Animal Control and was very timid and scared. He was placed in a foster home to let him decompress so we could learn about his personality in a setting where he could be more comfortable.

In their foster home, their foster mom wondered if these two boys would become friends and could help each other become more confident around people. After being given the go-ahead, she introduced them, and it didn’t take them long to become the best of friends. This new friendship has helped them both as they have returned to the shelter for adoption. We would love to see these two shy boys adopted together!

Alan loves being brushed and petted. He is the more confident of the pair and can be found lounging in the cat bad here, just taking in the world around him. Bat is learning that people give great chin scratches. He is the shyer of the pair and might take a bit longer to warm up. He spends a lot of time hanging out in his cat house but is starting to come out more as he settles in.

Alan & Bat are best suited to a quiet, low-stress, adult-only home. They would prefer to be the only animals in the home.

Time & patience will be key to a successful adoption. Their new family will need to understand that they must be patient with these two and give them time to settle in. They should start in a single room within the home before allowing them more space. This will give them time to get used to the new smells and sounds. Frequent visits from their people will allow them to become comfortable and of course, treats will always help too!

Both boys have been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and dewormed, the only thing missing now, is a family and home to call their own.

Alan & Bat are patiently waiting to meet you! If you’ve been wanting to add a feline friend (or two!) to your home, please think about giving these two a chance!

Wish list: PATE canned cat or kitten food, non-clumping unscented cat litter, toys for dogs, cats & small animals, and hand soap for staff & visitors.
