Sweet feline seeks forever family!
Garfield arrived at HSHPE in mid-May. He was a stray who was unfortunately not claimed. Garfield is ready to settle down with his forever family and will bond strongly with his new people!
Navigating his temporary accommodations took some time. He was very shy and shut down for the first week he was with us. Our staff sat with him multiple times each day to encourage him to eat, often times having to hand feed him to ensure his body was getting proper nourishment.
Now that Garfield has had a chance to learn a routine, and trusts our staff, his beautiful personality has started to shine
!
Let me tell you how wonderful this handsome fellow is!
Garfield is the sweetest orange boy this side of the Moira River! He melts into your hands when you pet him and is learning that people are pretty great. We feel he would enjoy the company of another feline friend in his home. A calm, cool, and collected cat who will help Garfield to gain some confidence. He will take some time to settle in, change is hard! We recommend starting Garfield out in a room, until he becomes comfortable in his new role, as “The Worlds Best Catpanion”! Once he’s had a few days to settle in, he can slowly be introduced to the rest of the home. A change in lifestyle such as this can be overwhelming to some cats, and a slow and proper introduction helps to make the adjustment less scary.
Garfield is playful, he is curious, and boy, is he ever sweet! We feel he would be most successful in a home with children over 8 years old. He would be tolerant of a small to medium-sized dog, one who is respectful and will give Garfield space (perhaps an Odie to this Garfield) He doesn’t love lasagna, but he isn’t a picky eater, and happily snacks on his kibble throughout the day.
Garfield is ready to launch! He is waiting very patiently for his forever family to walk through the door and fall in love! He’s been neutered, vaccinated- including rabies, dewormed, and will be microchipped once adopted. Garfield will be sent home with some extras from our Community Partners!
