This week we're crossing our paws for Slim!

In early December we received a phone call from an emergency vet clinic in a neighboring town. They had a stray who was brought into their care requiring emergency surgery to remove an eye that had sustained trauma. Like many homeless animals, Slim had some well-meaning people in his corner and thankfully they noticed his injury and brought him to the vet for help. Now that Slim had racked up a rather hefty vet bill, after having his left eye removed (Enucleation) who was going to continue his care? The HSHPE stepped up, we covered all medical expenses, and Slim has been recovering nicely, thanks to our exceptional Animal Care Attendants. A big thank you to Critter Cabs - a volunteer-based animal transport group, who have helped us (and many other Ontario shelters) to get animals like Slim, from point A, to point B..elleville! We’re happy to report big boy Slim is ready to start 2022 with a family of his very own! Now that he has completely recovered from his ordeal, and is feeling much better, we’re starting to learn more about this large and in charge tabby cat! Slim is independent, he prefers to seek out attention rather than be smothered by it. He is a chatty fellow and enjoys making small talk over coffee in the mornings. Slim is the type of cat that will judge you from across the room as you navigate another lockdown, binge-watching seasons on Netflix. Slim had enough confrontations in his past life dealing with other stray animals while he was displaced, and is certain he has no room in his life for any other animals. Slim must be the only animal in the home. If he’s to share his life with children, he would prefer they’re mature and 12 years or older.

Slim has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and once adopted will be microchipped. Slim’s new parents will receive 4 weeks of free trial pet insurance included in his adoption, as well as some extras from our community partners.
