Ulysses came into care after having been removed from a bad situation. He has been with us since last year and has taken his time to settle in and get used to the day-to-day happenings here at the shelter.
Ulysses is a shy guy. He enjoys having a hidey house or cardboard box that he can retreat to if he becomes uncomfortable. Loud noises and sudden movements are still scary for him and he does startle easily.
When staff isn’t looking directly at him, Ulysses gets into play mode. He can be very playful when he wants to be! His favourite toys are ones filled with catnip. He will entertain himself by tossing toys around and chasing them.
Windows, where he can watch the birds and squirrels, will provide Ulysses with hours of entertainment. He has spent lots of time in the windows here enjoying the view.
The ideal family for this handsome boy will be patient. It will take Ulysses quite a bit of time to get comfortable in his new surroundings. A separate room where he can decompress and get used to the new sounds and smells. This would also allow his new people to sit in the room and have him get used to their presence.
Ulysses has lived with other cats and will do fine in a home with another cat given a proper introduction. He may even come out of his shell more due to having another feline friend. He would not do well in a home with dogs.
We are looking for an adult-only home for this boy. He deserves the best shot in his furever home and after spending many months with him, staff feel he would enjoy a quieter environment that is child-free.
Ulysses is eating a special diet which is Go! Limited Ingredient (Pollock flavour) with an added Omega 3. This seems to be helping with how his coat looks. He would benefit from being brushed once he is settled into his new home.
This deserving boy is ready for his second chance!
Wish list: Ceramic bowls, I/D special diet cat kibble, pate canned cat/kitten food, martingale dog collars and enrichment items for the rabbits in our care.
