Volunteer Appreciation Week!

A letter to our Volunteers,

This week is National Volunteer Appreciation week, and although these past 13 months have been challenging, I want to take a moment to recognize QHS Volunteers.

Thank you to our Volunteer Partners for standing by us as we navigate this new world. Thank you to our dog walkers. You offer the gift of time, ensuring our dogs continue to be socialized, walked and given extra love everyday. Thank you to our volunteers that committed to 3-month Animal Care shift rotations in an effort to keep our community and small staff healthy through the pandemic. Thank you to our fundraising volunteers who staffed sales booths in an attempt to raise additional revenue for the homeless animals in our care. Thank you to our TV Bingo Volunteers, who work in studio to host each week. Thank you to our volunteers that assist with maintenance and additional duties in, and around the shelter. Thank you to our Paws to Recycle Volunteers- we’ve reached $13404.00 because of your efforts! Thank you to our Board Members and Committee Members. We’re finally going to see a new shelter built and this is because of your dedication, and because of our community support. Thank you to our Foster Families- who offer their homes to animals in need. Thank you to our Pet Store and Veterinary Partners, for offering space, and discounting services for the Quinte Humane Society- a non profit charity.  Thank you to our donors, in any capacity- whether it be supplies, money, empties, or time! Never doubt your worth, you make our mission possible!

We miss you, we miss the time you spend with animals in care, we miss the friendly banter and your warm smiles. We miss sharing space with people that fundamentally believe animals are a privilege, and are deserving of humane treatment and compassion. We look forward to brighter days, we look forward to having you back, and resuming QHS Volunteer operations. Until then, stay safe, stay positive, and take comfort knowing your place within our organization is here, waiting for your return.
